My Name is Alarna Jai, I was born on the 7th March 2009, I am five and a half months old and I have a rare condition called Septo optic dysplasia (s.o.d for short). This is a condition which affects parts of my brain, my pituitary gland being one of them. This gland is very important because it sends messages to other glands in the body to ensure that they are working correctly but  my pituarty gland is under developed so I currently need to take medication to help my adrenal gland to work. I take medication three times a day orally but when I am a little older I will be injected three times a day. Also with my condition my optic nerves are small meaning that I have very little vision. This is where we need your help…….

   My mum and dad were heart broken to hear that I will never be able to see their faces or see myself in the mirror. So my mum decided to research the internet to see if any body else had the same condition as me and see what treatment if any was out there for me. She found a site that was explaining about a little girl who had the same condition as I have, and now she can see. The little girl went to china for Stem cell treatment, the cost of the treatment is currently £30.000 .Although this is not a cheap treatment, i hope that i can have it, as my sight would make things a lot easier when i grow up. Unfortunately I cant have this treatment in the UK as no where does it.
